The Mansfield Aviation Club
The Mansfield Aviation Club, or MAC as it is known to it's members, was established June 16, 1949 by seven Mansfield residents with a common interest in aviation. The original charter called for the club to engage in any activity that might benefit the members, and/or promote general aviation. Today, more than fifty years later we still structure our program around that simple goal.
Club activities are mostly informal gatherings that concentrate on fun, good fellowship, and the opportunity to share aviation experiences and safety information.
MAC is often involved in community service and charitable projects. We are particularly interested in those projects that offer us an opportunity to demonstrate the value of general aviation to the non-flying public.
We are proud of our community service efforts:
One project is the Pilot
Lounge at Mansfield Lahm. Together with the Airport
Commission, the City
and many generous
donors, MAC has transformed the vacated weather service
office into a wonderful pilot lounge and passenger
reception area. Be sure to see it!
Aerial River Survey in conjunction with the Richland County Soil and Water Conservation District. MAC volunteers flew survey missions along Richland County's rivers and streams to locate logjams. The information collected was used to help prevent spring flooding.
FAA Safety Seminars - MAC has sponsored and helped
sponsor several FAA seminars, usually with the Ashland Pilot's Association &
the All Ohio Chapter of the "99s" Pilots.
Special Meeting Supplements at stated meetings. Subjects like weather, medical concerns, and airspace changes help keep our members up to date and sharp.
MAC also gives Donations to such projects as Toy Time, Keeping the City Pools open, the 179th Family Fund and other projects around Mansfield.
Some sample MAC events:
Valentines Day Party with dinner, entertainment, and plentiful door prizes.
Memorial Day BBQ at the airport
